While I wish I could say that this fine gentleman was someone I learned directly from and had the privilege of meeting in person, that isn’t the case.
I have certainly had the honour of learning from many wonderful mentors, and Zig Ziglar is one of them, but I never had the honour to meet him or attend any of his events.
He’s certainly a legend in the world of personal development, speaking and motivation, and anyone who’s spent any time in this realm will know his name.
One of my all time favorite quotes is a Zig Ziglar quote.
Zig Ziglar – The Master Motivator
If that quote doesn’t inspire you to make a difference, I don’t know what will. I have been so impacted by that quote that I use it as a tag line on my website. I’ve also got it printed on the back of a vision card (like a mini vision board) that I often carry around in my pocket. If there’s one overriding principle I’ve discovered from all of my studies and investment in my own self education, it’s that being of service to others is the key to having the life you desire.
“People say motivation doesn’t last. Well neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.” Zig Ziglar
Although I’m not so sure that “motivation” is really the key. As Bill Walsh says “If you motivate a bunch of idiots, you end up with a bunch of motivated idiots.” Motivation is certainly a component of achieving success. If you aren’t motivated to go after your dreams how do you ever expect to achieve them?
This Zig Ziglar quote does a fine job of summing that up. In an instant gratification world, it’s often hard to set aside our wants and desires for right now, in order to achieve what it is you want most.
If your desire is to become financially free and to do what you want, when you want, where you want, with whoever you want running a daily deficit isn’t going to get you there.
You have to have the discipline to know that small, continual, incremental investments in yourself and your wealth will lead you to your goal. Constantly robbing from your golden goose won’t lead to prosperity.
I think of all the people who instead of investing an hour or two of their time each night to growing their own business, sit down on the couch and fill their minds with the latest drivel on TV. Sure it might feel good in the moment, but is it really living to just exist? If you had the time and money freedom to do whatever you wanted, wouldn’t you feel more alive?
When I look around at the state of the world right now, I see so much of the population either anxious about what’s happening to the economy around them, or completely asleep to the changes the world is facing. By investing in yourself and listening or reading about great leaders like Zig Ziglar and all the others he inspired, and starting a part time venture like the Empower Network, you can create your own economy and be virtually immune to the chaos everyone else will struggle through. For just $25 you can get started building your own online business with a global customer base, and I’ll support you every step of the way.
