“I Hate My Job”

Ever Heard Yourself Saying “I Hate My Job”?

Have you ever thought or said “I hate my job”, not just once, but many times over?

You’re not alone. I was one of ‘them’.

I hated working hard and not getting the recognition that I deserved. I didn’t enjoy putting in more time and effort than my co-workers, and I certainly didn’t enjoy doing what someone else expected me to do. Oh, and what about the 2 week vacation time, that you can’t take whenever you want? I didn’t enjoy the 40+ minute commute each way (and through a pitted gravel road!), to and from home, and most of all, being at work most of my day, and only a short time home to be with my wife and kids, just barely enough time to have supper, then go to bed so that I could get up at 5:30 for another day at my job that I hated.  I was grateful for the job that was paying my bills, but I was miserable!

Most people complain about their job on a daily basis and don’t do anything about it!!

Some people even go as far as changing jobs, believing it’s going to be the key to their happiness. I’ve been there. I’ll bet you have been there, too. The truth is, most jobs out there are the same everywhere, and bottom line, if you go from one job to another, it is most likely, that you’ll be looking for the same position you just left… and work the same sort of work you hated, just at another location.

How’s that working for you so far?

So, why do so many people (as I once had) spend so many hours and hours at a job (or years and years) where they’re just miserable?

We do it because we justify that we need the money or do it to maintain a certain level of lifestyle when the truth of the matter is, spending your life doing what you truly enjoy, and what you love, using the unique gifts that you were given, is what you should be really doing!

Have you taken the time to look deep within and discover what you truly love to do? That is the key to your true happiness. If you love doing what you’re doing, then stay at your job. If you’re miserable, then it’s time to look deep within and find out what you love to do.

Your life, your happiness, is 100% your responsibility. No one else’s!

If you are in a state of forcing yourself out of bed in the mornings, dragging yourself to the job you hate, and have been  doing that for years, it’s time for a change.

Change your focus from “I hate my job” to focusing on creating your “plan B” and work hard for it because it will take care of you.

“I find it difficult that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape if easier than change.” – Jim Rohn

Saying “I Hate My Job” on a daily basis is no way to live. If that’s where you find yourself now, then it’s time to consider some alternatives.

No, don’t go out and quit your job today without a gameplan to replace your income. Trust me, taking a leap of faith like that will challenge you more than you can imagine, and likely set you back more than staying at the job will.

What you can do, is start seeking out options that suit your passions and interests. What do you like to do? What would you do even if you didn’t get paid?

“The only thing you should ever do for money, is the thing you would do for no money.” Raymond Aaron

That’s the place to start. Once you identified the thing you’d love to do, then look for ways people are getting paid to do it.

Love to travel? Why not become a tour guide, travel writer or travel agent that’s paid to visit new resorts to be able to refer clients.

Love to read? Get a job in a book store, or as an editor for a publishing company.

Love to walk outdoors? Become a dog walker in your neighbourhood.

Want to work from anywhere? Start a business online that allows you to work anywhere you have an internet connection.
